GREENWOOD, Ind. – The community of Greenwood is mourning the sudden and heartbreaking loss of Jessica M. Bernard, a 25-year-old resident, who died in a single-vehicle accident early Saturday morning on Interstate 65.
According to Indiana State Police, the crash occurred around 2:24 a.m. on July 19, 2025, in the northbound lanes near the 104-mile marker. Troopers responding to reports of a disabled vehicle in the far left lane discovered a 2020 Chevrolet Malibu and found Jessica deceased in the median nearby.
The Indiana State Police Crash Reconstructionist team was called in to assist with the investigation, which remains ongoing. Jessica’s identity was confirmed at the scene, and her family has been notified.
News of her tragic death has left the Greenwood community in shock. Friends, family members, and colleagues have taken to social media to express their sorrow, remembering Jessica as a kind-hearted and vibrant individual who touched many lives. Her untimely passing is being felt deeply by all who knew her.
