Brian Turner, 47, of Somerset, Kentucky, tragically passed away on Saturday, July 19, following a suspected drug overdose while in law enforcement custody, according to the Kentucky State Police.
Turner was taken into custody on Friday at a residence on Kentucky Route 1676 during the execution of an arrest warrant by the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office, in coordination with the U.S. Marshals Service. The specific details of the warrant have not been made public.
State police reported that, prior to his arrest, Turner ingested a large amount of suspected methamphetamine. Emergency medical personnel were immediately called to the scene, and Turner was transported to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital, where he died the following day.
An autopsy was performed on Monday, and preliminary findings suggest that methamphetamine ingestion contributed to his death. A full toxicology report is still pending.
