Coroner Identifies Victims in Fatal Summerhill Township Crash

CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa — Cambria County Coroner Jeff Lees has released the names of the two individuals killed in a devastating single-vehicle crash Sunday morning in Summerhill Township.

According to Lees, 21-year-old Ian Viscusi of Portage and 16-year-old Breyona Neff of Bon Air were both pronounced dead at the scene after their pickup truck collided with a telephone pole along the 2800 block of Portage Street. The crash occurred just before 11:30 a.m. on July 20.

Authorities say the truck was traveling southbound on Route 53 at a high rate of speed when the driver, later identified as Viscusi, lost control of the vehicle. The truck veered off the road and struck a telephone pole with significant force. Both victims sustained multiple blunt force trauma injuries and were found heavily entrapped in the wreckage.

Emergency crews from the Beaverdale and Portage Fire Departments responded and assisted the coroner’s office in recovering the victims.

Neff, a rising junior at Conemaugh Valley School District, was remembered by school officials as a bright and promising student. In a statement issued to the community, the district expressed its deep sorrow and noted that support services would be made available for students and staff affected by her loss.

Toxicology results for Mr. Viscusi are still pending as the investigation into the crash continues. Officials have not yet determined if impairment or other contributing factors played a role in the collision.

Due to the severity of the accident, Portage Street remained closed for an extended period as authorities worked the scene.

The tragic incident has left both the Portage and Bon Air communities grieving the sudden loss of two young lives. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
