The Authorities in Austin are investigating a tragic shooting that left one man dead and a woman injured early Friday morning in North Austin. The incident marks the 34th homicide case for the city in 2025.
According to the Austin Police Department, officers responded to an urgent 911 call at approximately 2:07 a.m. on July 19, reporting a shooting or stabbing at 804 East Braker Lane. The caller, a woman in distress, told dispatchers that she had been shot and that another individual was already deceased.
Upon arrival, officers located the woman caller and a male victim, both suffering from gunshot wounds. The man was identified as Comarri Thompson, who was later confirmed to be the woman’s boyfriend. Sadly, Thompson died at the scene from his injuries. The woman was rushed to a local hospital for treatment.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the couple had been sitting in their vehicle near the intersection of Braker Lane and Dessau Road when another vehicle pulled up and opened fire multiple times before fleeing the scene.
Authorities urge anyone with information about the shooting to contact the Austin Police Department at 512-974-TIPS. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program at austincrimestoppers.org or by calling 512-472-8477. A reward of up to $1,000 may be available for tips leading to an arrest.
