Two Michigan Men Killed in Plane Crash Near Lowell City Airport Identified as Kevin Lawrence and Paul Shalk

Grand Rapids, Michigan,– Authorities have identified the two men who tragically lost their lives in a plane crash Monday near Lowell City Airport.

Kevin Lawrence, 62, of Presque Isle, and Paul Shalk, 68, of Rogers City, were killed when their aircraft went down around 4:30 p.m. on July 21, in Vergennes Township, striking a building at Whistle Stop Self Storage.

The pair had taken off from Alpena, with a flight plan passing through Kent County. Moments before the crash were captured on a security camera from a nearby business. The resulting fire was severe, prompting a response from 15 fire departments to bring it under control.

The Kent County Sheriff’s Office has expressed condolences to the families of both men as the investigation into the crash continues.
