The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) has confirmed the tragic death of Kevin Allen, a 53-year-old man from Middletown, Ohio, who passed away on Norris Lake Wednesday evening. Allen’s death marks the 15th fatal boating incident in Tennessee in 2025.
The incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. near the Hickory Point subdivision. According to a TWRA news release, wildlife officers were dispatched after receiving a report that CPR was being performed on Allen aboard a boat.
Investigators say Allen had been wakeboarding prior to the incident. He reportedly fell into the water but was able to climb back onto the boat before suddenly losing consciousness. Despite life-saving efforts, he was later pronounced dead.
A witness at the scene informed TWRA that Allen had a pre-existing medical condition, which may have played a role in his sudden collapse. At this time, it remains unclear whether his death was due to the medical condition or complications related to the boating activity.
Kevin Allen’s untimely passing has left his family, friends, and community in mourning. He is remembered as a man who loved the water and the outdoors, and whose presence brought joy to those around him.
As the TWRA continues its investigation into the exact cause of death, officials are reminding the public to exercise caution while engaging in water activities, especially for individuals with known health conditions.
Thoughts and condolences are with Kevin Allen’s loved ones during this heartbreaking time.
