SEYMOUR, TX – A Seymour man has been indicted on two counts of manslaughter in connection with a devastating car crash that claimed the lives of two Lubbock residents late last year.
According to a press release from the Baylor County Sheriff’s Office, 28-year-old Tanner Wayne Gillispie was arrested Wednesday and booked into the Wichita County Jail, which serves as a contract facility for Baylor County.
The fatal collision occurred on December 4, 2023, about four miles west of Seymour on U.S. Highway 82. The Texas Department of Public Safety reported that Gillispie was driving a pickup truck when he veered into the opposite lane, colliding head-on with a Toyota driven by Anthony Rodriguez, 34. Kimberly Perez, 31, was a passenger in the vehicle.
Both Rodriguez and Perez, residents of Lubbock, were pronounced dead at the scene.
Gillispie sustained non-incapacitating injuries and was treated at a local hospital in Seymour following the crash.
As the legal process moves forward, authorities remind the public that anyone charged with a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
The deaths of Anthony Rodriguez and Kimberly Perez have left the Lubbock community grieving the loss of two cherished lives. Their families continue to seek justice as the case proceeds through the judicial system.
