The tragic death of George Cox Jr., 32, has taken a chilling turn as a Cuyahoga County grand jury has indicted his girlfriend, Dy’mond Vaden, in connection with his murder. Vaden, also 32, faces multiple felony charges, including murder, felonious assault, tampering with evidence, gross abuse of a corpse, and possession of weapons under disability following a months-long investigation into Cox’s disappearance and death.
George was reported missing on November 8, 2024, weeks after he was last seen on October 18 near Bosworth Avenue and Peony Avenue in Cleveland. During a welfare check at the apartment he shared with Vaden, police found the unit nearly empty, with little furniture and what appeared to be blood on the floor—later confirmed to be Cox’s.
As the investigation progressed, authorities determined that Vaden no longer lived at the residence. On May 15, 2025, a kayaker made a grim discovery: a body wrapped in a fitted bedsheet and tied with marine rope in a shallow, marshy section of the Huron River, south of State Route 2. On July 2, the Erie County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the remains were those of George Cox Jr.
Evidence collected during the investigation—including blood on clothing found at Vaden’s new residence and a matching bedsheet—further linked her to the crime. DNA analysis and phone records also supported the case against her.
Vaden was arrested along with Emmanuel McQueen Jr., 41, at a new address they shared. A firearm was recovered from the home, despite both being legally prohibited from possessing weapons. McQueen has been charged with possession of weapons under disability.
Both Vaden and McQueen are expected to be arraigned at the Cuyahoga County Justice Center in the near future.
George Cox Jr. is remembered by family and friends as a kind-hearted man whose life was senselessly cut short. His loss is deeply felt by all who knew him, and the pursuit of justice continues as the case unfolds.
