Woodville Man David Voorhies Killed in Union Parish Motorcycle Crash

Bernice, Louisiana – The Louisiana State Police Troop F is investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred on the afternoon of Friday, July 25, 2025, in Union Parish. The single-vehicle accident resulted in the death of 69-year-old David Voorhies, a resident of Woodville, Mississippi.

According to the preliminary investigation, the crash happened shortly before 3:00 p.m. on U.S. Highway 167, just south of Louisiana Highway 2. Voorhies was operating a 2008 Honda motorcycle traveling northbound when, for reasons still under investigation, he veered off the roadway and collided with a cattle gate.

Despite wearing a DOT-approved helmet, Voorhies sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. As part of standard procedure, routine toxicology samples were collected and will be analyzed as the investigation continues.

The Louisiana State Police remind all motorcyclists of the importance of safety training. Approved motorcycle safety courses teach essential skills and strategies that can significantly reduce the risk of injury or death in the event of a crash.
