KANSAS CITY, MO — A shooting that occurred late on the night of July 20, 2025, has now turned into a homicide investigation following the victim’s death.
According to the Kansas City Police Department (KCPD), a male gunshot victim was transported to a local hospital just before midnight on July 20 by private vehicle. Despite medical efforts, the victim succumbed to his injuries. Officials confirmed the death on July 26, prompting the case to be reclassified as a homicide.
Preliminary findings suggest the shooting took place in the area of 69th Street and Bellefontaine Avenue. Authorities have not yet released the victim’s name pending notification of next of kin.
The investigation remains active, and detectives are working to gather more details about the events leading up to the fatal shooting. Law enforcement urges anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who has information that could assist in the case to come forward.
