LOGAN COUNTY, KY – Authorities have launched a death investigation following the tragic discovery of a man found unresponsive in a swimming pool on Saturday afternoon.
The Logan County Sheriff’s Office reports that deputies responded to a residence on R. Tanner Road shortly after 3:30 p.m. after receiving reports of a possible drowning. Upon arrival, first responders identified the victim as 25-year-old Joseph Merrill of Russellville.
Emergency personnel immediately pulled Merrill from the pool and began life-saving efforts, but despite their best attempts, he was pronounced dead at the scene. It remains unclear how long Merrill had been in the water before being found.
Assisting the Logan County Sheriff’s Office at the scene were the Lewisburg Fire Department, Logan County EMS, the Adairville Police Department, and the Logan County Burden Bearers.
The circumstances surrounding Merrill’s death remain under active investigation.
