Taylor Holmes and Family Killed in Tragic I-485 Crash on Way to Carowinds

CHARLOTTE, NC – Taylor Holmes, 23, was among six people tragically killed in a horrific crash on Interstate 485 in Charlotte on July 26, 2025. Taylor was traveling with her family in a Chrysler Pacifica van headed to Carowinds Amusement Park when the fatal collision occurred.

Also killed in the crash were her boyfriend Jake Holmes, her 8-year-old cousin Kamron Wood, and her two young daughters — Addyson, 3, and Brynlyn, 1. Taylor’s 16-year-old sister, Katelynn, who was also in the vehicle, survived the accident. Her condition has not yet been released.

According to investigators, around noon the family was traveling southbound on I-485 when their Chrysler van collided with a Honda vehicle. The impact from the initial crash caused both vehicles to slam into a nearby 18-wheeler parked on the side of the highway.

A sixth person, an adult occupant of the Honda, was also killed in the crash. Their name has not yet been released pending notification of family.

The North Carolina Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation into what led to the deadly collision. The heartbreaking loss of life has left the community stunned, as friends, family, and neighbors remember Taylor and her loved ones as a tight-knit, joyful family simply on their way to enjoy a summer day together.
