Man Killed in North Madison Shooting Identified as Lee Scott III

MADISON, Wis. — The Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the victim of a deadly shooting that occurred last week on Madison’s north side as 30-year-old Lee Scott III, a resident of Madison.

Scott was shot just after 4 a.m. on Tuesday in the 2100 block of Schlimgen Avenue and was transported to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on Thursday, officials confirmed.

According to Madison police, the shooting appears to have been targeted, and a person of interest was detained shortly after the incident. Authorities have not released that individual’s name or said if any charges have been filed.

A forensic autopsy was conducted on Saturday; however, as of Monday afternoon, the official cause and manner of Scott’s death remain pending, with additional testing underway.

The case remains under active investigation by the Madison Police Department.
