RCSO Warns Public to Avoid Harrisburg Amid Teen Shootings; Multiple Injured, Suspects Still at Large

HARRISBURG, GA — The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office (RCSO) has issued an urgent warning for residents to avoid the Harrisburg area following a series of shootings involving teenagers that have left multiple individuals injured. As of 8:37 p.m. on Sunday, authorities confirmed that some suspects are in custody, but several others remain at large, prompting a heightened police presence and ongoing investigations.

The shootings reportedly occurred in various locations throughout Harrisburg, with officers responding to multiple reports of gunfire. At least two individuals were transported to local hospitals with injuries, while others are believed to still be in the area.

Due to the volatile situation, the RCSO, along with support from the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) and Augusta University Police, are urging residents to stay indoors and avoid all travel through Harrisburg until further notice.

“Persons in the Harrisburg area should remain inside their homes for their safety,” officials stated. “Police officers are actively working the scene, but we advise the public to stay clear as the investigation and search for additional suspects continues.”

The motive behind the shootings remains unclear, and authorities have not released further details on the identities of those involved or the exact number of injured.

Law enforcement is asking anyone with information about the shootings or suspicious activity in the Harrisburg area to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation.

This is an active and developing situation. The RCSO will provide updates as more information becomes available. Residents are encouraged to follow official channels and avoid spreading unverified information that could cause unnecessary panic.

For emergencies or to report tips, contact the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office or local police departments immediately.
