16-Year-Old Carter Spivak-Villeneuve Identified as Homicide Victim in Calgary

Calgary is reeling from the tragic and senseless loss of a young life, as police confirm that 16-year-old Carter Spivak Villeneuve has been identified as the victim in a recent homicide investigation.

At approximately 1:20 a.m. on Friday, August 1, 2025, officers with the Calgary Police Service responded to reports of a person in medical distress in the 300 block of Abergale Drive N.E. Upon arrival, they discovered a deceased male at the scene. Later that same day, an autopsy conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner confirmed the death to be a homicide.

The victim has since been identified as Carter Spivak-Villeneuve, a Calgary resident whose young life was cut tragically short.

“This is a deeply troubling case given the victim’s young age,” said Acting Staff Sgt. Clark Budd of the Calgary Police Homicide Unit. “We continue to investigate and are asking anyone who may have information about Carter’s movements or who he may have been with before his death to come forward.”

Investigators are making a direct appeal to the community, particularly residents and business owners in the area of the 300 block of Abergale Drive N.E., to check any surveillance footage or report any unusual activity observed between 12:00 a.m. and 1:30 a.m. on the morning of the incident.

Anyone with information that may assist in the investigation is urged to contact the Calgary Police Service non-emergency line at 403-266-1234. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at www.calgarycrimestoppers.org.

As the community grieves the loss of a promising young life, authorities remain committed to bringing those responsible to justice.
