MIDDLETOWN, CT – The Middletown community is mourning the tragic loss of Kristopher Hinton, a 35-year-old resident who died in a fatal accident on the Arrigoni Bridge Saturday afternoon.
According to the Middletown Police Department, officers were dispatched around 1:30 p.m. following reports of a serious motor vehicle accident involving a 50cc moped on the pedestrian walkway of the bridge. Upon arrival, responders found Hinton with critical injuries. Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Preliminary findings from the ongoing investigation suggest that Hinton was traveling at a high speed for the narrow pedestrian sidewalk and lost control of the moped, leading to the deadly crash.
The Middletown Police Department’s Traffic Unit is actively investigating the incident. Authorities are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has additional information to contact Officer J. Zadjura at 860-638-4063.
In a public statement, police expressed their sympathies:
“We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Kristopher Hinton during this incredibly difficult time.”
