Fatal Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-40 Claims Life of Florida Man

SEQUOYAH COUNTY, OK — A multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 40 in the early morning hours of Sunday, August 3, 2025, has claimed the life of a Florida man, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP).

The fatal collision occurred around 1:35 a.m. near the Highway 64 exit and involved three vehicles.

Authorities say 69-year-old John W. Beahn of Fruitland Park, Florida, was a passenger in one of the vehicles involved. He was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical personnel.

The driver of the vehicle in which Beahn was riding sustained injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The extent of their injuries has not been publicly disclosed.

The drivers of the other two vehicles involved in the crash were not injured, according to the OHP.

Investigators have not yet released information regarding the sequence of events that led to the crash, and the cause remains under investigation. No charges have been filed at this time.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol continues to investigate the scene and has not ruled out any contributing factors. Authorities are urging drivers to remain vigilant, especially during nighttime travel on major highways.
