In Loving Memory of Brandon Russell Ropp

It is with heavy hearts and profound sorrow that we announce the unexpected passing of Brandon Russell Ropp of Shelby, North Carolina. Brandon, just 28 years old, lost his life following a tragic accident, leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and deep devotion to his family.

Brandon was a bold and spirited soul  known for his strong personality, quick wit, and the deep compassion he carried beneath a tough exterior. He loved fiercely, protected those closest to him, and constantly strived to grow, rebuild, and find his way back to what mattered most.

Among Brandon’s greatest joys were his children: his son, Oaklyn Russell Ropp, and daughter, “Nellie” Harley Raynell Ropp. They, along with two little girls who lovingly called him “Bo,” were the lights of his life and his proudest legacy.

He is survived by his father, Rusty Ropp (and partner Mary Routh), and his mother, Bonita Thomas (and husband Charles Thomas), as well as his brother, Austin Ropp (wife Taylor) and sweet niece Emery Claire Ropp. He is also remembered by his step-siblings, Casey, Cutter, and Chance, along with countless aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.

A memorial service to celebrate Brandon’s life will be held Sunday, August 10, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 1:00–3:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, please consider honoring Brandon by extending kindness, offering grace, or reaching out to someone in need  just as he often did.

Brandon was deeply loved. He mattered. And he will never be forgotten.
