WEST BRIDGEWATER, Mass. — An 18-year-old woman who tragically lost her life following a serious crash on Route 24 has been identified as the victim of Tuesday’s accident, which has left her family and community heartbroken.
According to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office, the young woman, identified as O’Connell, was driving southbound on Route 24 around 11 a.m. when she collided with another vehicle. After the initial impact, her vehicle struck the median on the left side of the highway and overturned.
O’Connell sustained life-threatening injuries and was airlifted by medical helicopter to a hospital in the Boston area. Despite the best efforts of medical teams, she succumbed to her injuries on Saturday.
Described by loved ones as “the sweetest, most caring soul,” O’Connell is being remembered for her warm heart, kindness, and the light she brought into the lives of those around her.
The crash remains under investigation by Massachusetts State Police and the District Attorney’s Office as they work to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the collision.
Grief counselors and support services are being offered to those impacted by the sudden loss of such a young and cherished life.
