LIVE OAK, Calif. — Timothy Daniel, a beloved husband, stepfather, and longtime resident of Sutter County, tragically lost his life on Wednesday morning after a car struck his motorcycle on Highway 99. He was 61 years old.
Daniel had just finished his night shift as a mechanic at Farmers’ Rice Cooperative in West Sacramento and was riding his Harley-Davidson northbound on Highway 99 when a Nissan Rogue, traveling south, made a left turn onto Bogue Road near Yuba City and collided with him around 8:45 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol’s Yuba-Sutter office.
He was thrown from the motorcycle and sustained critical injuries. Despite efforts to save him, Daniel was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
His stepdaughter, Katey Chapman, confirmed his identity and shared heartfelt words about the man her family is now mourning. “He was humorous, kind, and exceptionally diligent, always willing to help others or share a joke to uplift someone’s spirits,” the family wrote on a GoFundMe page created to help with funeral costs and to support Daniel’s grieving wife.
“Regardless of whether you knew him for years or just a brief moment, you experienced his warmth, generosity, and profound love for those around him,” the tribute continued.
Originally from Hallwood in Yuba County, Daniel was remembered as an outdoor enthusiast who enjoyed golfing, fishing, and riding his motorcycle — a passion he had for over 20 years. “He was a very cautious and passionate rider,” Chapman said. “It is essential for people to learn to share the road.”
As of Monday afternoon, the GoFundMe fundraiser had collected over $2,000 of its $10,000 goal, with contributions coming from friends, family, and community members touched by Daniel’s life and story.
His loss leaves a deep void in the lives of those who knew and loved him. Timothy Daniel will be remembered for his unwavering kindness, hard work, and the joy he brought to everyone around him.
