BREAKING: Officer Seriously Injured During Domestic Disturbance Response on SW Hollywood Drive
TOPA, KS – A domestic disturbance call late Sunday night quickly escalated into a violent confrontation, leaving a law enforcement officer seriously injured and a suspect on the run.
On Sunday, June 1st, 2025, at approximately 11:00 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 3500 block of SW Hollywood Drive following reports of a domestic disturbance at an apartment complex. Upon arrival, the first responding officer encountered a male subject fleeing the scene on foot.
As the officer gave chase, he quickly radioed that shots had been fired—but authorities later confirmed that no shots were fired by the officer. Despite not discharging his weapon, the officer was struck multiple times, sustaining serious injuries during the encounter.
The officer was immediately transported to a nearby trauma center, where he is receiving treatment for his injuries. His current condition remains serious but stable.
Investigators have confirmed that the suspect’s identity is known, and a multi-agency effort is underway to locate and apprehend him. According to multiple eyewitnesses, the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle, and authorities do not believe there is any ongoing threat to the public in the vicinity of the original incident.
