CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A tragic act of violence claimed the life of a teenager early Saturday morning after Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police discovered a young woman shot to death inside a car in north Charlotte.

The incident occurred around 2 a.m. near the intersection of North Graham Street and Craighead Road, in the department’s North Tryon Division. Responding officers located a vehicle with a shooting victim inside. The teen, identified as 17-year-old Navaeh Carter, was pronounced dead at the scene.
