    According to the Iowa State Patrol, the crash occurred around 4 p.m. when a 2015 Buick Encore, driven by 95-year-old LeRoy Weaver of Buffalo Center, crossed the center line and sideswiped a 2010 Harley-Davidson motorcycle ridden by 64-year-old David Raak. Moments later, the vehicle struck 21-year-old David Raak’s motorcycle head-on, ejecting him from the bike. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

    The crash also resulted in injuries to the elder David Raak, LeRoy Weaver, and 21-year-old Kayla Hudelson of Belle Fourche, South Dakota. All were transported to MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City for treatment. The extent of their injuries has not been publicly released.

    David was a beloved son, friend, and member of the Spirit Lake community, known for his vibrant personality, love of the outdoors, and passion for motorcycles. His life, full of promise, adventure, and deep connections with those around him, has left an immeasurable impact.
