Her legacy is one of love, service, and quiet influence—reminding us all of the power of goodness and humility.

    With profound sorrow and heavy hearts, we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of Lainey Landry, the cherished 9-year-old granddaughter of Brenda and the late Henry Landry. Lainey’s young life was tragically taken in the recent flooding near Mystic Camp, a devastating event that has shaken the entire community.

    Lainey brought light, laughter, and love to everyone who knew her. Her joyful spirit, kind heart, and bright smile touched lives far beyond her years. She will be remembered always as a beautiful soul whose time on this earth, though brief, left a lasting impact.

    We ask our St. George Catholic Church family to surround Lainey’s parents, Ben and Natalie Landry, and her cousins, Graham and Hallie—children of Will and Stephanie Landry, students at St. George Catholic School—with love, prayers, and compassion during this unimaginable time.

    🙏 Please offer a Rosary for the Landry families, and for all the families still seeking answers and comfort. Ten young girls remain missing in the aftermath of the flood. We pray fervently for their safe return, and for God’s peace to surround their loved ones.

    The community of Hanover Township and the greater Wilkes-Barre area is mourning the loss of Joe Soprano, longtime executive editor of the Times Leader, who passed away on July 6, 2025, at the age of 58 following a courageous battle with cancer.

    A dedicated journalist and newsroom leader, Joe began his career at the Times Leader in 1989 and went on to serve in nearly every editorial capacity—from sports and features to news and digital content. His voice became a staple in the region, especially through his popular “Cycling Scene” blog, which reflected not only his journalistic skill but also his personal passion for cycling and community engagement.

    Colleagues remember Joe for his sharp editorial instincts, unwavering dedication to ethical reporting, and his deep love for storytelling. He mentored countless young journalists and played a pivotal role in shaping local news coverage for more than three decades.

    Beyond the newsroom, Joe was a cherished friend, a devoted family man, and a familiar face in local events and fundraisers. His loss is deeply felt by those who worked alongside him, read his words, and were impacted by his quiet leadership and generous spirit.

  • Tragic Accident Claims Life of Monticello Woman in Somerset

    SOMERSET, Ky — A devastating accident over the weekend has left the Somerset and Monticello communities in mourning after the death of 39-year-old Linda Green, who was fatally struck while attempting to cross Highway 27 on the night of Saturday, June 28, 2025.

    Authorities say Linda, a Monticello resident, was trying to cross the busy roadway when she was hit by an oncoming vehicle. Emergency responders rushed to the scene, but despite their efforts, Linda was tragically pronounced dead.

    Linda Green is remembered by loved ones as a kind-hearted and spirited individual who always had a smile and a helping hand to offer. Her sudden loss has left family, friends, and neighbors heartbroken.

    As the investigation into the incident continues, officials are urging drivers and pedestrians alike to use extra caution, particularly on high-traffic roads such as Highway 27.

    It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we share the passing of Jaxon Kelly, a cherished young soul from Monticello, Georgia, whose life was tragically cut short. Jaxon’s sudden departure has left his family, friends, teammates, and the entire community reeling with grief and disbelief.

    Jaxon was more than just a bright student or a talented athlete — he was a beacon of light. Known for his infectious smile, kind heart, and adventurous spirit, he had a way of making everyone around him feel seen, heard, and loved. Whether on the field wearing #31 with pride, or spending time with loved ones, his warmth and energy filled every room he entered.

  • Tragic Plane Crash Claims Lives of Beloved Buchanan Family in Lee County, NC

    A devastating plane crash on Monday evening has claimed the lives of four members of a cherished Lee County family. The small aircraft went down in a field off Riddle Road near Wallace Creek Lane—just outside Sanford and about 30 miles north of Fayetteville.

    💔 All four passengers aboard the plane were killed—three died at the scene, and the fourth passed away later from injuries sustained in the crash.

    🕯️ The victims have been identified as:

    • Travis Buchanan, 35
    • Candace Buchanan, 35
    • Aubrey Buchanan, 10
    • Walker Buchanan, 9

    This loss has shaken not just the local community, but the broader region where the Buchanan family was well known for their contributions and kindness. The family operated Buchanan Farms, a small produce stand that quickly became a beloved community staple. What began as a dream for Travis, who grew up farming with relatives, blossomed into a family-run labor of love. Candace balanced a full-time job while helping run the farm and raise their children, who were often seen smiling and welcoming visitors at the stand or riding on the tractor with their father.

    🚜 Buchanan Farms was more than just a place to buy produce—it was a symbol of connection, care, and community spirit.

    The aircraft involved in the crash has been identified by the FAA as a Cirrus SR22T. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are currently investigating the cause of the crash, which occurred just 5 to 7 miles from the Buchanan family’s farm.

Now, Bi is faced with the unimaginable: grieving her beloved daughter while caring for her elderly mother and Jasmine’s 7-year-old sister, the only child she has left.

    Jasmine may have only had eight years on this earth, but her impact was profound. She was a compassionate, joyful soul who radiated kindness. She had a gift for making others feel seen, especially those who felt left out. Her laughter, her hugs, and her magic in everyday moments are memories her loved ones will carry forever.

    Frank’s final moments were a true reflection of the man he was: kind, thoughtful, and guided by a deep respect for all living things. Despite the tragic outcome, his gesture speaks volumes about his character and unwavering sense of empathy. Witnesses and first responders did all they could, but Frank passed away at the scene.

    A beloved member of the community, Frank was known for his gentle demeanor, generous heart, and quiet courage. His life was one of service, care, and connection—to people, to animals, and to the natural world he so deeply cherished.

    According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the accident occurred when a rear tire blowout caused Aaron to lose control of his motorcycle, resulting in a devastating collision. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

    Aaron was known by many as a warm, loyal, and adventurous soul whose presence brought comfort and laughter to those around him. He was a man who lived life with strength and sincerity, cherishing his loved ones and finding joy in the open road. His loss is deeply felt, not only by family and close friends, but also by the broader community that knew and admired him.
