A man from Utah has confessed to sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl prior to her being fatally shot by individuals who mistakenly believed she was stalking them. The girl, identified by her family as Kaylee Dutton, was killed on January 17, as reported by ABC 4, Cedar City News, and KUTV. She was shot shortly after passing through the townhome community where her abuser, Justin Driffil, resided in Cedar City, according to ABC 4 and Cedar City News.
Driffil, aged 27, has not faced charges related to Dutton’s death. On Wednesday, July 23, he entered a guilty plea for unlawful sexual conduct involving a 16-17-year-old, as reported by ABC 4 and Cedar City News. Dutton’s family believes that she would not have been killed had she not been subjected to sexual abuse by him.

“If it weren’t for that, I just, we all just truly believe that she wouldn’t have been in that neighborhood that night, and she would still be here,” her mother, Kimberlee Dutton, stated to ABC 4.
The inquiry into Driffil commenced in October 2024 when Dutton, then 17, informed her mother that Driffil was engaging in sexual activities with her, according to Cedar City News. Kimberlee reported to the authorities that Kaylee confided in her about a relationship with Driffil after she was dismissed from her job where she worked under him.
The investigation uncovered that Driffil and Kaylee were communicating via Snapchat, and Driffil acknowledged to the police that he was aware of her age during their sexual interactions, as per the outlet.

SEYMOUR, TX – A Seymour man has been indicted on two counts of manslaughter in connection with a devastating car crash that claimed the lives of two Lubbock residents late last year.

According to a press release from the Baylor County Sheriff’s Office, 28-year-old Tanner Wayne Gillispie was arrested Wednesday and booked into the Wichita County Jail, which serves as a contract facility for Baylor County.

The fatal collision occurred on December 4, 2023, about four miles west of Seymour on U.S. Highway 82. The Texas Department of Public Safety reported that Gillispie was driving a pickup truck when he veered into the opposite lane, colliding head-on with a Toyota driven by Anthony Rodriguez, 34. Kimberly Perez, 31, was a passenger in the vehicle.

Both Rodriguez and Perez, residents of Lubbock, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Gillispie sustained non-incapacitating injuries and was treated at a local hospital in Seymour following the crash.

LEWISVILLE, TX – A woman was shot and killed by Lewisville police early Thursday morning after a high-speed pursuit ended in an armed standoff, authorities said. The driver, identified as 43-year-old Joanna Rogers

The incident began around midnight when a Lewisville police officer attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by a woman believed to have a felony warrant. The driver, identified by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office as 43-year-old Joanna Rogers, refused to stop and sped away, prompting a multi-jurisdictional chase through North Texas.

During the pursuit, Rogers reportedly collided with a Lewisville Police Department patrol vehicle but continued fleeing. The officer involved in that crash was not injured.

The chase came to an end in a commercial parking lot located in the 2200 block of the southbound I-35E service road in Lewisville. According to police, Rogers exited her vehicle while armed with a handgun and failed to comply with repeated commands to drop the weapon.

Officers opened fire, striking Rogers. They immediately began lifesaving measures, and she was transported to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead around 1 a.m.

SPRINGFIELD, OH – Springfield Police have identified the woman who was tragically shot and killed earlier this week as Iesha Givens, 28, according to a report released by authorities.

The deadly shooting occurred Wednesday afternoon on E. Cecil Street, prompting a heavy police response around 3:45 p.m. When officers arrived, they found Givens in the living room with multiple gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed in Clark County Municipal Court, Marcus Hasan, also 28, called 911 and admitted to shooting his girlfriend. Investigators say the incident stemmed from an argument that escalated into deadly violence.

Christopher Wilson, 36, of Summerville, was fatally injured while riding his bicycle along Dorchester Road around 11 p.m., according to the coroner’s report. Authorities say a vehicle struck Wilson while he was cycling, causing critical injuries.

Emergency responders transported Wilson to Trident Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

SAN DIEGO, CA – A 35-year-old man accused of fatally shooting his father in the Skyline neighborhood has entered a plea of not guilty to murder and related charges, officials confirmed Thursday.

Adrian Raul Godinez is facing serious felony charges stemming from a violent incident that unfolded on the morning of April 27. According to the San Diego Police Department, Godinez allegedly shot and killed his father, 56-year-old Luis Godinez Gonzalez, inside their home on Skyline Drive.

Authorities say that after the fatal shooting, Godinez left the residence and headed to a nearby liquor store, where he reportedly fired a gun in the direction of an employee standing behind the counter. Thankfully, no injuries were reported at that location.

Police responded to a 911 call just before 8:30 a.m. regarding gunfire heard in the area of the 7900 block of Skyline Drive, with additional reports of a man walking through the neighborhood while visibly armed. Moments later, officers were alerted to the liquor store shooting at Moonlight Liquor on South Meadowbrook Drive.

A suspect matching Godinez’s description was later found in the backyard of his residence. Officers secured the perimeter and observed Godinez beginning to remove his clothing before he was ultimately taken into custody without further incident, said SDPD Lt. Lou Maggi.

Godinez is currently being held in jail without bail. He is charged with murder, assault with a firearm, and additional weapons-related offenses.

MARION TOWNSHIP, Minn. — The Minnesota State Patrol has identified the motorcyclist killed in Thursday’s fatal collision involving a pickup truck along U.S. Highway 14 in Olmsted County.

Robert Warren Jackley, 52, of St. Charles, was riding a 2005 Harley-Davidson motorcycle westbound on Highway 14 when he collided with a 2021 Chevy Silverado driven by Daniel Lee Dittes, 52, of Maple Grove. The crash occurred around 10:48 a.m. at the intersection with Chester Avenue SE, just east of Rochester.

Authorities say Jackley was pronounced dead at the scene. Dittes, the driver of the pickup truck, was not injured.

The Minnesota State Patrol is continuing its investigation into the cause of the collision. The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office, Rochester Fire Department, Eyota Ambulance, and the Minnesota Department of Transportation all responded to the scene and assisted with the incident.

The crash prompted the temporary closure of Highway 14 between Chester and Eyota, though it has since reopened, according to 511MN.

ST. JOHN’S, NL — Authorities have identified the victim in a fatal shooting that occurred Thursday morning in the west end of St. John’s. Terry Griffin, 30, was found deceased inside a residence on Salter Place following reports of gunfire shortly after 10:40 a.m., according to the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC).

Police say Griffin’s death is being investigated as a targeted shooting, indicating the suspect may have specifically sought him out. Upon arriving at the scene, officers located Griffin inside the home with fatal injuries. A shelter-in-place advisory was promptly issued for the surrounding area as authorities launched an extensive containment and search operation.

The investigation soon shifted to a second location on Gros Morne Place, where officers apprehended a 48-year-old male suspect. That individual was already facing charges in a prior case involving uttering threats and assault with a weapon — a case in which Griffin was one of the identified victims. Investigators are now examining whether a link exists between the earlier charges and Thursday’s deadly encounter.
