“My whole heart, literally. When your close friend tells you they’re dying—what can you do? What can you say? These past three weeks, I’ve been trying to accept reality, trying to be strong. We talked every day, for hours, just laughing, venting, talking shit. Since she’s been in the hospital, she didn’t want calls, but I still called because I needed to. Yesterday, she could barely talk, but she still called me back—because she knew I needed to hear her voice. If I knew yesterday was our last six minutes, I would’ve made it sixty. We always sat on the phone for hours. Our last words were ‘I love you.’ I don’t know if that gives me peace or just makes it hurt more. I’m not okay. Please pray for me.”

Chevi was light in human form—funny, loyal, loving, and real. She was the kind of friend who showed up, listened, laughed with you until it hurt, and reminded you that you mattered. Even while fighting her own battle, she still gave pieces of herself to others.

Ed’s warmth, generosity, and unwavering care defined the way he lived and worked. He wasn’t just a colleague—he was family. Whether you met him through LAU, in the music world, or as a lifelong friend, Ed had a gift for making everyone feel seen, supported, and valued.

A gifted musician at heart, Ed studied Piano Performance at Wilkes University and also pursued Music Education, blending his love for the arts with his passion for connecting people. He was a proud graduate of G.A.R. Memorial, and he carried his Wilkes-Barre roots with pride throughout his life.

At LAU, Ed’s leadership and vision were instrumental in building meaningful bridges between alumni and the university, especially throughout North America. His work was always personal—marked by sincerity, creativity, and heart. He brought joy to every event, remembered every name, and found ways to make others feel like they belonged.

BOWLUS, MN — The Morrison County Sheriff’s Office has officially identified Juan Rodriguez, a 25-year-old man from Tampa, Florida, as the victim of a deadly car crash that occurred on Friday, July 11, 2025, near Bowlus.

Authorities say the collision happened at approximately 12:30 p.m. at the intersection of 30th Street and 120th Avenue. Rodriguez was driving westbound on 30th Street when he failed to stop at a posted stop sign, entering the intersection and striking a southbound pickup truck driven by 37-year-old William Anderson of Fulda.

The violent impact caused both vehicles to roll into a nearby ditch, where they also struck a power pole. Sadly, Juan Rodriguez was pronounced dead at the scene. Anderson was not injured in the crash.

Rodriguez’s untimely passing has left his family and friends devastated. He is remembered as a young man full of promise and warmth, whose life was cut tragically short while far from home.

The Morrison County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the circumstances of the crash and reminds all motorists to exercise caution and observe all traffic control signs, particularly at rural intersections.

Andrea passed away peacefully on July 14, 2025, in their home, surrounded by a circle of immense love: their wife, Meg, four ex-girlfriends, their mother and father, dozens of cherished friends, and their three beloved dogs.

Andrea Gibson was far more than a poet—they were a revolutionary force in the world of performance poetry, using their gift with words to confront themes of identity, gender, mental health, love, grief, and political justice with unmatched vulnerability and courage. With every line and performance, Andrea cracked open hearts and stitched communities together through shared truth.

A trailblazer in the spoken word world, Andrea was one of the first openly nonbinary poets to gain national acclaim. Their work transcended boundaries—emotional, social, and artistic—and built spaces where queer people, survivors, and those navigating pain could feel seen, held, and understood.

They were a fierce advocate for tenderness and authenticity, once writing:

“The spaces between the things we think we are and the things we think we aren’t are where all the light lives.”
