  • WOMAN DIES AFTER DOG ATTACK

    A tragic incident has shaken the community of LaGrange, Georgia, as authorities confirm the death of a woman following a brutal dog attack on Tuesday morning.

    Just after 11 a.m., LaGrange Police officers responded to a distressing call at the intersection of Swanson Street and Juniper Street, where a woman was being viciously attacked by two dogs. Upon arrival, officers were able to intervene and stop the attack, immediately administering medical aid while awaiting emergency medical services.

    Despite their efforts and the rapid response of EMS, the woman, identified as Theresa Patterson, sadly succumbed to her injuries at the scene.

    Theresa’s sudden and violent death has left the community in shock and mourning. Known to many in the area, her loss is deeply felt by friends, neighbors, and loved ones.

    The LaGrange Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division (CID) is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the attack. Authorities have not yet released further information regarding the dogs involved or their owner but have confirmed that the investigation is ongoing.

    Officials urge the public to come forward with any information that might aid the investigation as they seek to ensure justice for Theresa and prevent future tragedies of this kind.

    For decades, Hugh Keefe stood at the forefront of Connecticut’s legal community—an unwavering advocate for justice, a master of the courtroom, and a mentor to generations of attorneys. Known for his commanding presence, sharp wit, and unrelenting dedication to the rule of law, Keefe earned a national reputation for his work in high-profile criminal cases while never losing sight of the clients and community he served with loyalty and compassion.

    Beyond his accomplishments in the courtroom, Keefe was deeply involved in legal education, serving as an adjunct professor at Yale Law School for more than 40 years. He brought real-world experience, humor, and humility to his teaching, inspiring countless students to pursue careers in law with integrity and excellence.

    Raised among the vines of the Livermore Valley, John carried forward the vision first planted by his great-grandfather, James Concannon, founder of Concannon Vineyard in 1883. With integrity, passion, and a deep respect for the land, John not only nurtured the family’s vineyard but also helped shape the future of California wine through his leadership, mentorship, and tireless advocacy for sustainability and quality.

    John was more than a vintner—he was a storyteller, a steward of heritage, and a man who believed in the power of wine to bring people together. Whether walking the vineyard rows or raising a glass in the tasting room, he touched the lives of everyone he met with warmth, generosity, and an unshakable commitment to excellence.

  • Atlanta Attorney Identified Among Victims of Texas Flash Flooding

    ATLANTA, GA — The legal community is mourning the devastating loss of Josephine Hardin, a promising young attorney at the Atlanta-based law firm Huff Powell Bailey, who tragically lost her life alongside her mother, Alyson Hardin, during the catastrophic flash flooding in Texas on the morning of Friday, July 4th.

    The two were visiting family for the holiday weekend when they were caught in the floodwaters. Their deaths are among the many heartbreaking casualties from the disaster that has left more than 170 people reported missing, with the highest concentration in Kerr County, Texas, where nearly 100 victims have already been recovered.

    In an emotional statement, Huff Powell Bailey paid tribute to their colleague and friend:

    “Josephine was a beloved member of our firm. She spent her summer with HPB in 2022 and joined us as an associate in 2023 after graduating with honors from Emory University School of Law.”

    While at Emory, Josephine served as Editor-in-Chief of the Emory International Law Review and was named a David Bederman Fellow of International Law — a distinction recognizing exceptional commitment to global legal scholarship. She earned her undergraduate degree magna cum laude from the University of the South, Sewanee, in 2019, where she majored in Environmental Sustainability.

    Josephine’s contributions extended far beyond the legal field. She was a tireless advocate for others, serving as a volunteer with the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation, where she was appointed the firm’s AVLF liaison in 2024. She also gave her time generously to the Atlanta Community Food Bank and the Georgia Society of Healthcare Risk Managers.

    “Josephine was a natural leader,” the firm added. “She was smart, beautifully quirky, and endlessly compassionate. She made us laugh out loud, brought people together, and always challenged us to think more deeply about how we could serve others. Her loss is immeasurable.”

    The Huff Powell Bailey family joins the broader Atlanta community and the Hardin family in mourning the loss of two extraordinary lives. Josephine’s dedication, intellect, humor, and heart leave behind a powerful legacy that will never be forgotten.
