With heavy hearts and deep sorrow, we mourn the tragic and untimely passing of Jerkera Battle, age 22, who lost her life to senseless violence in the early hours of Tuesday, , in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
According to the Lehigh County Coroner Daniel A. Buglio, Jerkera died from a gunshot wound to the head. Her death has been ruled a homicide, sending shockwaves through the community and devastating those who knew and loved her.
Authorities report that Jerkera was fatally shot by her ex-boyfriend, Adam Makowka, around 4:15 a.m. inside an apartment located in the 700 block of Turner Street. Investigators say Makowka entered the apartment through a fire escape, shot Jerkera in a hallway, and then fired into a bedroom where her young son and another man were present. Miraculously, neither the child nor the man was injured.
Following the horrific act, Makowka fled the scene but was located by law enforcement approximately two hours later in his car at a park in Lansdowne, Delaware County. He has since been charged with homicide, attempted homicide, and two counts of aggravated assault, and is being held at Lehigh County Jail without bail.
