  • In Loving Memory of Billy Jack Breed

It is with shattered hearts and unimaginable sorrow that the community of Brooktondale, New York, mourns the tragic and untimely passing of Billy Jack Breed, who left us on June 13, 2025.

Known to those closest to him simply as Jack, he was so much more than a name—he was the baby brother, a beloved son, a devoted husband, a remarkable father, a fun-loving uncle, and a steadfast friend to countless people whose lives he touched. Jack had a way of making everyone feel like family. His laughter, energy, and loyalty made him unforgettable.

As the news of Jack’s passing has traveled from community to community, the outpouring of love and support has been overwhelming and deeply appreciated. Every message, memory, and gesture of kindness reminds us just how deeply Jack was loved and how far his impact reached. Yet, even in the warmth of community, our hearts are heavy. We are all still trying to comprehend how to move forward without someone who meant so much to so many. The space Jack filled in our lives is simply irreplaceable.

Over the past few days, we’ve heard the words again and again—“This isn’t Jack.” And we agree. This tragedy does not define who he was. It does not erase the joy he brought into the world, nor does it diminish the legacy of laughter, love, and light that he leaves behind.

If anything good can come from this unthinkable loss, let it be this: Please talk to someone when life gets overwhelming. If you’re angry, hurting, or feel like you’re losing your way—reach out. Jack’s family, and so many others who care deeply, are just a call or message away. Your life matters. And your pain doesn’t have to be carried alone.

Let us also remember the truth we so often forget—mixing alcohol and emotion can be dangerous. And while mistakes do not define who we are, the consequences of a single moment can ripple far and wide. We can’t undo what’s been done, but we can honor Jack by living better, loving deeper, and reaching out when we need help.

As you hold Jack in your heart, remember the good times—the late-night talks, the shared laughs, the spontaneous adventures, the bear hugs, the inside jokes, and the moments that made him the vibrant soul we all cherished. Let those memories be a source of healing and strength.

Jack’s passing has left a hole that can never be filled, but his life—his real life—was filled with love, and that love will continue to live on in his family, his friends, and this community.

To know Jack was to love him. And to lose him is a heartbreak we will carry always.

Rest easy, Jack. You are missed beyond words and loved beyond measure.
