Doris Winters Charged in Fatal Shooting of Husband Aerion Winters in Milwaukee
MILWAUKEE, WI — A tragic domestic dispute turned deadly on May 31, 2025, when 61-year-old Doris Winters allegedly shot and killed her husband, 49-year-old Aerion Winters, at an apartment complex near 95th Street and Brown Deer Road on Milwaukee’s north side.
According to the criminal complaint, Milwaukee police were called to the scene shortly after 10 p.m. Upon arrival, officers were directed by witnesses to a woman walking away from the area who had reportedly just fired a weapon. Officers observed the woman drop a handgun before taking her into custody. She was later identified as Doris Winters.
Despite life-saving efforts by first responders, Aerion Winters was pronounced dead at the scene. Court records indicate he sustained gunshot wounds to the back and chest.
A witness at the scene told authorities that Aerion had been living at a different residence in recent weeks. On the night of the shooting, the witness had driven him to Doris Winters’ apartment to collect some of his belongings. Once inside, an argument reportedly erupted between the two. As Aerion attempted to walk away, the witness claimed Doris shot him in the back.
When questioned by police, Doris allegedly stated, “Because I’m just tired,” when asked why she fired the gun.
Doris Winters is now facing a charge of first-degree reckless homicide, use of a dangerous weapon. She is currently being held as the investigation proceeds.
The incident has left neighbors and loved ones stunned, highlighting the devastating consequences of unresolved conflict and domestic violence.
