GREENWOOD, SC — Heartbreak and disbelief have gripped the Greenwood community following the tragic death of Lakeria Fisher, a vibrant and beloved 2024 graduate of Greenwood High School, who was fatally shot on Sunday evening, June 1, 2025.
Authorities responded to a shooting in Greenwood on Sunday, and upon arrival, discovered Fisher had suffered fatal gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene. While investigators have not yet released full details regarding the circumstances or motive behind the shooting, the incident has already left a deep emotional impact on the community.
Lakeria was widely known for her kind spirit, bright smile, and the promise of a future filled with potential. Her recent graduation marked the beginning of what many hoped would be a long and fulfilling journey ahead. That journey was tragically stolen in an act of senseless violence.
“This is not just a loss for her family,” said one community member. “It’s a loss for Greenwood. We lost a daughter, a friend, a light.”
