In Loving Memory of Darius Wong: A Life Taken Too Soon

BALDWIN PARK, CA — With heavy hearts, we mourn the tragic and senseless loss of Darius Wong, a beloved son, brother, husband, and father, who was killed on Saturday, May 31st, 2025, in Baldwin Park. He was just 43 years old.

At 7:12 p.m., while simply walking down Filhurst Street on his way to a family gathering, Darius was struck by gunfire—an innocent bystander caught in the chaos of a violent incident. Authorities say Baldwin Park police responded to reports of gunfire and, upon arrival, were also met with bullets. A police officer was fatally shot during the exchange.

Darius had no connection to the violence that erupted around him. He was merely walking to be with his loved ones—something so ordinary, yet it ended in unimaginable tragedy.

Those who knew Darius remember him as a kind-hearted, soft-spoken man who lived with quiet strength and unwavering love for his family. He was deeply devoted to his children and wife, always placing his loved ones first. His gentle nature and steady presence were pillars in the lives of those around him.

This devastating loss has left his family and community heartbroken, struggling to understand how such a caring soul could be taken so suddenly and so cruelly.

As we grieve, we ask for prayers, support, and unity—for Darius, for his grieving family, and for a community shaken by this violence. A memorial is being planned to honor his life and legacy, details of which will be shared soon.

May Darius Wong be remembered not for how he left this world, but for the love, compassion, and quiet strength he gave to it.
