  • In Loving Memory of James “Jimmy” Fortunato, Jr.

    Glenolden, Pennsylvania, With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of James “Jimmy” Fortunato, Jr., age 30, of Glenolden, PA, who died unexpectedly on July 4, 2025. A devoted husband, loving father, cherished son, and loyal friend, Jimmy’s sudden departure has left a profound void in the lives of all who knew and loved him.

    Jimmy spent most of his life in Holmes, Pennsylvania, before settling in Glenolden about five years ago, where he built a beautiful life with his beloved wife Sara and daughter Everley Rose, while eagerly awaiting the arrival of their second daughter, Abigale Mae, due in mid-August.

    A proud graduate of Our Lady of Fatima School (Class of 2009) and Ridley High School (Class of 2013), Jimmy also attended The Restaurant School at Walnut Hill College, where his love of food and cooking flourished. He worked as an Inventory Manager at Horizon Services and was a faithful member of Trinity Baptist Church in Secane.

    Jimmy’s personality was larger than life. With a sparkle in his blue eyes and an unforgettable smile, he lit up every room he entered. His passions were many—from cheering on his beloved Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies, to immersing himself in Star Wars, John Wick movies, and all things action-packed. A true outdoorsman, Jimmy found joy in hunting, fishing, ATV riding, and horseback adventures, always calling the outdoors his happy place.

    Known affectionately as the family Grillmaster, Jimmy loved to eat, talk about food, and perfect his BBQ and smoking techniques. He was a black belt in Kenpo, a defender of the underdog, a proud patriot, and someone who never shied away from a passionate discussion about politics or current events.

    Beyond his hobbies, Jimmy had a heart for helping others. He was an active member of Friends – The National Association of Young People Who Stutter, where he mentored and inspired hundreds of young people across the country. His compassion, courage, and advocacy left a lasting mark on the lives of countless families.

    Jimmy’s greatest joy was his family. He was the devoted husband of Sara C. McGinley Fortunato, proud father of Everley Rose and soon-to-arrive Abigale Mae, beloved son of James F. and Melissa Fortunato, and loving brother to Nick and Maddie Fortunato. He was the cherished grandson of Natalie McGillen, and is preceded in death by grandparents James F. McGillen, Catherine Fortunato, and James D. Fortunato. He also leaves behind a large and loving circle of aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.

    Jimmy will be remembered for his laughter, loyalty, big heart, and unwavering devotion to the people and causes he loved. His spirit will live on through the lives he touched and the family he adored.

    Eunice, Louisiana, It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Chelsea Raven Bergeron Wilson, who left this world on July 7, 2025, at the age of 36. A beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, Chelsea’s sudden departure has left an immeasurable void in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

    Chelsea was a woman whose presence brought warmth, kindness, and light to all who encountered her. Her gentle spirit and generous heart made her not only cherished but deeply admired by many. She approached life with sincerity and compassion, always making others feel seen, heard, and cared for.

    She is lovingly remembered by her parents, Keith Bergeron and Debbie Russell Lerma, her stepfather Edward Lerma, and her sisters Brittney “Anna” Bergeron and Erica Rae Adams. Her role as an aunt was one she held dear, and her love lives on through her nieces and nephews: Liam Weimer, Alice Weimer, Aiden Adams, and Aubrey Adams.

    Family and friends will gather to honor Chelsea’s life on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Quirk & Son Funeral Home in Eunice, Louisiana. Visitation will take place from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 6:00 PM at the same location.

    Chelsea’s memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who loved her. Her laughter, her love, and the quiet strength she shared with the world will never be forgotten. In every act of kindness and every moment of joy, her spirit will continue to shine.

    Born on August 28, 2009, Ryder lived a life full of light, love, and laughter. He was a beloved son, loyal friend, and dedicated student whose gentle spirit and infectious smile made a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. Ryder brought joy into every room he entered, whether through his quiet kindness, quick wit, or the way he looked out for others.

    Ryder was a proud student at Bayou Academy, where he was known not only for his academic promise, but for the way he treated others—with humility, empathy, and genuine care. He had a heart for his friends, a love for his family, and a spirit rooted in faith.

    Though his time here was far too short, Ryder’s life was full of meaning. He touched countless lives with his grace, and his memory will forever be a source of strength and inspiration to those he leaves behind.

    Boyle, Mississippi, It is with profound sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joshua Benjamin Willoughby, affectionately known as Josh, of Boyle, MS. Josh departed this world far too soon on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, leaving behind a community that loved and cherished him deeply.

    A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2025, with visitation from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Cleveland Funeral Home, followed by the funeral service at 1:00 PM in the Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel. Josh will be laid to rest in New Cleveland Cemetery, with Reverend Park Neff officiating.

    Born on August 15, 2008, in Jackson, MS, to Sarah Smith and Justin Willoughby, Josh was a shining light — a beloved son, brother, grandson, friend, and teammate. As a proud Colt at Bayou Academy, he was preparing to enter his senior year, ready to take on the world with his signature determination and heart.

    Josh’s passion for life was reflected in everything he did. He was a talented athlete, excelling as a defensive end on the football team, a swimmer, and a committed soccer player. His drive for fitness extended beyond the field—he spent hours at the gym, always striving to better himself. A true animal lover, Josh worked at Delta Dog House, where his gentle nature and love for dogs made a lasting impression.

    Beyond his talents and dreams—including becoming a mechanic and opening his own business—Josh was known for his simple joys: bananas, pasta, Cheerios, family time in his grandparents’ yard, watching movies, and UFC boxing. His bond with his younger sister, whom he mentored in soccer, was a reflection of his compassionate and nurturing heart.

    Josh is survived by a loving family: his mother Sarah Smith, father Justin Willoughby, sisters Madison, Anna Kay, and Elizabeth Grace Goss, his brother and best friend Chris Bush, and his devoted grandparents Albert Benjamin “PopPop” Smith III, Sally Smith, Kathy Smith, and stepfather Frank Ryan Goss. His memory will also be carried by pallbearers Nathaniel Breda-Smith, Chris Bush, Russell McCain, Frank Ryan Goss, Cory Barfield, and Paxton Joe.

    In honor of Josh’s love for animals, memorial donations may be made to the Bolivar County Humane Society.

The shooting occurred at the Oakwood Estates Housing Complex, casting a shadow of sorrow over what should have been a day of celebration.

    Shabrya’s passing has devastated her family, friends, and the broader Alton community. Described as bright, kind-hearted, and full of potential, Shabrya had her whole future ahead of her. Her death marks not only a personal tragedy but a deeply felt community loss.

    On Tuesday, July 8, authorities announced that Joshua L. Glen-Colley, an 18-year-old Alton resident, has been formally charged in connection with the shooting. As the investigation continues, local officials and community members are calling for justice while also reflecting on the urgent need to address the root causes of violence among youth.

    Grief counselors and local leaders have stepped in to support those impacted, especially young people reeling from the trauma of losing a peer so suddenly and violently.

  • Fallon, NV Mourns the Loss of Darius Fruzza

    The Fallon community is grieving the heartbreaking loss of Darius Fruzza, who passed away on July 7, 2025, after a sudden and tragic medical emergency. Just one day earlier, on July 6, Darius was taken to the hospital with severe flu-like symptoms. As his condition quickly worsened, he was care-flighted to Reno in the early morning hours. Upon arrival, doctors discovered swelling in his brain, and tragically, determined that he no longer had brain activity. The cause was a rare, fatal reaction to a strain of influenza.

    In the midst of unbearable sorrow, Darius’ family made the incredibly selfless decision to donate his organs, giving the gift of life to others, just as Darius gave so much to those who knew him.

    Darius was known for his gentle spirit, quiet strength, and genuine kindness—traits that touched the hearts of everyone around him. He had a sharp sense of humor and a talent for making people laugh when they needed it most. Whether in the classroom, in the dugout, or with his friends, Darius brought warmth and positivity to every space he entered.
