  • In Loving Memory of Andrew Swanson

    Grand Rapids, MI, The memory of Andrew Swanson, who passed away on July 6, 2025, at the age of 16, will forever remain in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him. Though his time with us was far too short, Andrew’s life was marked by deep kindness, quiet strength, and a joy that radiated through every room he entered.

    Andrew was a beloved son to Chuck and Faith Swanson and a devoted brother to CJ. He was a loyal friend, a cherished family member, and a young man whose gentle spirit and generous heart touched many in the Grand Rapids community and beyond. Whether on the soccer field, in the classroom, or simply spending time with loved ones, Andrew brought thoughtfulness, laughter, and light into the lives around him.

    Visitation will be held on July 10th and 11th, with a funeral service to celebrate Andrew’s life on July 11th at Ada Bible Church. All who knew and loved Andrew are invited to join in honoring his memory.

    In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that remembrances be made to South Christian High School’s Foundation Fund or AYSO United—two organizations that played meaningful roles in Andrew’s life.

    Though Andrew is no longer with us, his legacy lives on in the hearts of those he loved and who loved him deeply. He will be missed beyond measure and remembered with abiding love.

    Kenny was more than just a dedicated team member; he was a beacon of warmth, kindness, and positivity. His infectious smile and genuine spirit brightened every shift, making Eddie’s a welcoming place for coworkers and guests alike. Known for his hard work and unwavering commitment, Kenny’s presence was a source of joy and inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing him.

    Our deepest condolences go out to Kenny’s family, friends, and everyone touched by his kindness. As we grieve this heartbreaking loss, we come together to honor his memory and support each other through this difficult time.

  • BREAKING: Shooting at Motel 6 on I-35 and Ledbetter in Dallas, TX

    Dallas, TX – Authorities are investigating a shooting that occurred on Monday at the Motel 6 located off I-35 and Ledbetter Drive in South Dallas.

    According to Dallas police, multiple gunshots were fired outside the motel just before midnight. Emergency crews arrived to find at least one individual suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim’s condition has not yet been officially released, though sources at the scene report that CPR was being administered.

    Witnesses say chaos unfolded quickly as guests scrambled for safety. “It was terrifying. We just heard popping sounds and everyone started running,” one motel guest shared.

    Police have not released information about a suspect at this time, and no arrests have been made. Investigators are reviewing surveillance footage from the motel and surrounding businesses to determine what led up to the shooting.

  • Obituary David Timmons Gauthier

    With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of David Timmons Gauthier, 43, of Florence, South Carolina, beloved husband of Victoria Purvis Gauthier. David passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, July 6, 2025.

    Born in Florence County on May 23, 1982, David was the son of Mary Ann Parrott Crumbley and the late Harry Lee Coward. Known for his tireless work ethic and generous spirit, David worked in maintenance and quickly earned the reputation of being the “go-to” man—if something needed fixing, David was the one you called.

    He never met a stranger, always greeting others with a warm smile and a helping hand. He had a natural ability to connect with people, which made him not only dependable, but deeply loved by all who knew him. David’s passions were simple but rich—he loved cooking, fishing, being near the water, and cheering on his favorite drag racing teams. Music was a constant in his life, particularly rock and country, and his beloved Chihuahuas were never far from his side.

    Above all, David was devoted to his family and friends. He cherished spending time with his Uncle Bobby and Aunt Mary, where he always felt truly at home.

    David is survived by his loving wife, Victoria Purvis Gauthier of Florence; his children, Vidilia Rose Gauthier of Lake City and David Timmons Gauthier, Jr. of Manning; stepchildren, Briona (Braydon) Hernandez and Bryce Hernandez, both of Florence; his mother, Mary Ann Crumbley, and stepfather, Mike Crumbley of Scranton; his brother, Jerry Lee (Tracey) Coward of Coward; and sister, Jennifer (Robert) Eason of Scranton. He also leaves behind his special uncle and aunt, Bobby and Mary Moore of Scranton; and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

    He was preceded in death by his brother, John Lee Coward, and grandmother, Virginia Parrott Ducote.

    Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Faith Holiness Church, 143 W. Camp Branch Road, Scranton.

    Funeral services will follow at 4:00 PM at the church, with private burial afterward.

    David will be remembered for his loyalty, humility, and love for others. His legacy of kindness and dedication will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.

  • Tragic Loss in Louisville: Amia N. Cox and Sontia R. Simmons Remembered

    It is with heavy hearts that we share the devastating news of the deaths of Amia N. Cox, 22, and Sontia R. Simmons, 26, who were tragically killed in the early hours of July 7, 2025, in a senseless act of violence in Shively, a suburb of Louisville, Kentucky.

    The two young women were found with multiple gunshot wounds at a residence on Kingswood Way, their lives cut short far too soon. Both Amia and Sontia were deeply loved by their families, friends, and communities, and their passing has left an immeasurable void.

    Authorities have named Labradford Jamarr Ward, 35, as the prime suspect in this double homicide. Ward, who had a prior relationship with one of the victims, is currently wanted by law enforcement and is considered armed and dangerous. He faces charges including murder and domestic violence-related homicide. Police are urging the public not to approach Ward and to report any information to authorities immediately.

  • Tragic Loss: Ebonee McNiel Killed in Double Homicide in Charlotte

    With deep sorrow, we share the heartbreaking news of the tragic and senseless loss of 35-year-old Ebonee McNiel, who was killed on July 2, 2025, in a devastating act of domestic violence in Charlotte, North Carolina.

    The incident occurred around noon at an apartment complex on Pebblestone Drive, where Ebonee and her boyfriend — with whom she shared children — got into an argument. During the altercation, the man fatally shot Ebonee before turning the gun on himself, all in front of their children.

    Thankfully, the children were not physically harmed, but the emotional trauma of witnessing such a horrific event is unimaginable. Authorities responded swiftly, but both adults were pronounced dead at the scene.

    Ebonee is remembered as a loving mother, a strong woman, and a gentle soul whose life was tragically cut short. Her death is yet another painful reminder of the dangers of domestic violence and the urgent need for awareness and resources for those at risk.

    OCONEE COUNTY, S.C. — The community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Forde McIver, a 20-year-old woman who tragically passed away following a serious crash near Seneca early Saturday morning.

    According to the Oconee County Coroner’s Office, the crash occurred around 1 a.m. at the intersection of Armstrong Road and Brown Farm Road. McIver sustained critical injuries and was transported to Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital, where she sadly succumbed to her injuries on Monday at 3:44 p.m.

    The South Carolina Highway Patrol is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
