Portsmouth, VA — Two Suspects Arrested After Gunfire Exchanged in Broad Daylight

On June 4, 2025, at approximately 1:22 p.m., Portsmouth Police responded to a Flock Gunshot Detection alert, coupled with multiple emergency calls reporting shots fired in the 2400 block of Deep Creek Boulevard.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers from the Portsmouth Police Department (PPD) utilized footage and intelligence from the Real Time Crime Center to swiftly locate and detain two suspects—45-year-old Dominique Mack and 35-year-old Montae Bowser—who were captured on security cameras exchanging gunfire with one another.

Following the investigation, Montae Bowser was charged with:

  • Attempted Malicious Wounding
  • Missile into an Occupied Building
  • Reckless Handling of a Firearm

Dominique Mack was charged with:

  • Two counts of Attempted Malicious Wounding
  • Reckless Handling of a Firearm
  • Shooting Across a Roadway

Both individuals are currently in custody without bond.
