The Rockport Firemen’s Association Mourns the Loss of Capt. Andrew Porter
It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that the Rockport Firemen’s Association announces the sudden passing of Captain Andrew Porter.
From the moment he graduated high school, Andrew answered the call to serve his community as a firefighter. His life was defined by an unwavering dedication to the fire service, and his passion for volunteer firefighting was unmatched. Andrew exemplified everything good and honorable about the brotherhood of firefighters—his commitment, courage, and compassion made him a respected leader and a true friend to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
This loss is not only deeply felt by his family and close friends, but by every firefighter, past and present, who served beside him. It is a loss shared by the entire Town of Rockport, where Andrew’s presence and contributions touched countless lives. He was more than a colleague—he was a father, a son, a brother, and a trusted member of our firefighting family.
As we struggle to come to terms with this tragic loss, we ask you to keep Andrew’s family in your thoughts and prayers. Words feel inadequate in moments like these, but our hearts are united in grief and remembrance.
This year, Firemen’s Memorial Sunday carries a deeply personal weight for us all. We remember not just a firefighter, but a man we proudly called “Brother.” We watched him grow, lead, and inspire—and now, we carry forward his legacy.
Rest in peace, Brother Andrew. We’ll take it from here.
