Three Young Girls Missing from Wenatchee Found Dead; Father Wanted for Their Murder
WENATCHEE, Wash. — The Wenatchee community is reeling after the tragic discovery that three young girls reported missing have been found dead, and their father, Travis Decker, remains at large and wanted in connection with their deaths.
Olivia, Evelyn, and Paityn Decker—aged 9, 8, and 5—were reported missing last weekend after their father, Travis Decker, failed to return with them following a scheduled visitation. The situation took a devastating turn as law enforcement intensified their search for the missing children and their father.
On June 2, Chelan County deputies located Travis Decker’s 2017 white GMC truck abandoned near the Rock Island campground outside Leavenworth. A thorough search of the area subsequently led investigators to discover the bodies of the three girls, bringing a heartbreaking end to the search.
Travis Decker, a military veteran with extensive training, is currently wanted on three counts of first-degree murder and kidnapping. Authorities warn that he may be armed and dangerous, urging the public to exercise extreme caution. Anyone who believes they have seen Decker since Friday, May 30, or knows his whereabouts, is urged to contact 911 immediately.
Police describe Decker as approximately 5-foot-8, weighing 190 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. Though an Amber Alert was initially requested through the Washington State Patrol, it did not meet the criteria. However, an Endangered Missing Person Alert was issued on Saturday after Wenatchee detectives provided additional details.
Authorities believe Decker has been living out of his truck and have searched numerous hotels in Wenatchee and East Wenatchee in their efforts to locate him. Vehicle tracking through the Flock database indicated Decker’s truck left Wenatchee heading westbound on Highway 2 on Friday.
The search eventually focused on the area between Icicle and Drumstick roads near Leavenworth, where law enforcement obtained an arrest warrant for custodial interference and began a concentrated search. The vehicle’s discovery by Chelan County deputies marked a critical development in the case.
A multi-agency response supported the investigation, including the FBI, Chelan County Sheriff’s Office, Emergency Management, a Homeland Security helicopter, the East Cascade SWAT Team, and the Washington State Patrol Crime Scene Response Team.
The Wenatchee community and authorities remain focused on finding Travis Decker and ensuring public safety as the investigation continues.
