Tragedy on Claxton Bay Highway: Mother, Father, and Daughter Among Four Killed in Violent Crash

CLAXTON BAY, TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO — A devastating highway accident has left four people dead, including a mother, father, and their young daughter, following a violent crash involving a white Hyundai Creta SUV on the southbound lane of the Claxton Bay Highway.

According to initial reports from authorities, the SUV, bearing registration PDY 8181, was traveling southbound when the driver, 51-year-old Steve Elder of Lakpathia Trace, Las Lomas #1, lost control of the vehicle. The SUV reportedly flipped multiple times before finally coming to rest on the shoulder of the highway. The impact of the crash was so severe that debris was scattered across both lanes, and the vehicle was left extensively damaged.

Elder, a resident of Cunupia, was among the four individuals who died at the scene. Investigators confirmed that he was accompanied by 41-year-old Kizzy J. Cato, believed to be his partner, and their young daughter, whose identity has not yet been publicly released. All three were pronounced dead at the site of the crash.

The fourth victim has yet to be officially identified by authorities, and the investigation is ongoing to confirm the person’s relationship to the family and their role in the journey.

Emergency services responded swiftly, but the force of the crash left little chance for survival. Traffic was backed up for hours as officers from the Highway Patrol Unit, forensic investigators, and emergency responders worked at the scene.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash, but early indications suggest speed and possible driver error may have contributed to the tragic accident.

The community is reeling from the loss of an entire family, and condolences are pouring in from friends, relatives, and neighbors mourning this sudden tragedy.
