CINCINNATI, Ohio – Authorities have identified the victim of a fatal shooting Sunday night in the Winton Hills neighborhood as 23-year-old Rachel Counts.
Emergency responders were called to Kings Run Court around 10:45 p.m., where they found Counts suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite immediate life-saving efforts, she tragically succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
Following an extensive overnight investigation, the Cincinnati Police Department announced on Monday that 23-year-old Omarion Horne has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with Counts’ death. Detectives said the arrest came after collecting evidence, interviewing witnesses, and reviewing other investigative materials.
Authorities have not yet disclosed a motive for the shooting, citing the ongoing nature of the investigation. Police are continuing to gather information, including reviewing area surveillance footage and interviewing residents who may have seen or heard anything around the time of the incident.
In the wake of the tragedy, friends and family of Rachel Counts have expressed their heartbreak, describing her as a loving young woman whose life was taken far too soon.
