PHILADELPHIA — The City of Brotherly Love is mourning the loss of one of its most beloved voices. Pierre Robert, the longtime host of 93.3 WMMR Radio, was found dead in his home on Wednesday, October 29, 2025. He was 70 years old. The circumstances surrounding his passing are not yet known, and authorities have reported no foul play is suspected.
WMMR staff shared the heartbreaking news on Instagram, writing, “We’re heartbroken to share the passing of our dear friend and legendary voice, Pierre Robert. You will be missed beyond words.”
Pierre joined the iconic rock station in 1981 and quickly became a staple of Philadelphia radio. Known for his signature greeting, “Greetings Citizens,” he captivated listeners with his warm, genuine personality and unwavering love for music. Whether on-air, at live concerts, or curating treasures from the station’s archives, Pierre brought the joy of music into the lives of countless fans.
Throughout his decades-long career, Pierre hosted numerous beloved segments, including Noontime Workforce Blocks, Pierre’s Vinyl Cut, exclusive artist interviews, live in-studio performances, and historical features like On This Day. His dedication to connecting with listeners went beyond music; he supported local charities, from the AIDS Walk to WMMR’s Pie in the Sky fundraiser, demonstrating a deep commitment to his community.
As one of Philadelphia’s most recognized figures in the music scene, Pierre’s presence was felt from small clubs to stadium stages, and his star has been immortalized on the Philadelphia Music Alliance Walk of Fame. Colleagues and fans alike described him as generous, kind-hearted, and a mentor to many, leaving a lasting legacy that extended far beyond the radio dial.
